Getting there
Macclesfield is in Cheshire, south of Manchester. Manchester Airport is the nearest airport. Check for yourself which flights leave from Schiphol or Eindhoven, because that changes per season.
Train
Macclesfield station is on the West Coast Main Line. There is a train to Manchester Piccadilly every hour. There is also a direct connection with London Euston.
From the airport
Travel on to Macclesfield via Manchester Piccadilly. With a group or lots of luggage, a taxi from the airport is often more practical.
Car
Macclesfield is on the A523. The stadium is on the west side of that road. Parking around the stadium is limited on matchdays, so arrive in good time.
Bus
A bus runs along London Road towards the stadium. Handy if you want to skip the walk.
From the station to Moss Rose
This is where most people misjudge things. Moss Rose is not in the town centre, but about one and a half kilometres to the south, on London Road. From Macclesfield station it is roughly a twenty-minute walk.
The route is simple. Out along Sunderland Street, keep right at Park Green, then left into Mill Lane. That brings you out on London Road, and from there you can already see the stadium.

Where to stay
Three options, depending on the kind of weekend you want.
- Macclesfield centre: within walking distance of the pubs, the restaurants and the station. The best choice for most supporters.
- Manchester Airport: practical if you have an early flight home.
- Manchester centre: for those who add a city break. On matchday you take the train.
Pubs and food
Bar Twenty Seven is the club's bar, on the complex at Moss Rose itself. Before and after the match it is the obvious meeting point, and you are straight away among the supporters. Check the opening times in advance and give them a call if you are coming with a larger group.
Matchday
Moss Rose is small, and that is exactly its charm. It holds 5,350 people, 2,095 of them seated. The rest stand. The away end is called the John Askey Terrace and holds around 1,500 visitors.
Arrive well before kick-off. At a ground this size, that is the difference between watching a match and experiencing a matchday.
Tickets
You buy tickets from the club itself. If you run into trouble, for example with paying from the Netherlands or with a larger group, you can also have it arranged through The Football Travel Agency. That is the same company behind this site, so we say so openly.
What to bring
Your ticket or booking confirmation, your passport or ID, travel insurance, a bank card that works in England, a raincoat and your blue and white scarf.
Fixtures can move because of television, cup games or the weather. Book as flexibly as you can. Dutch travellers also need a travel permit for the United Kingdom. Arrange it well in advance and check the requirements on the official UK government website, because they change.
